Favoritenstrasse No. 2 was built in the Neo-Classicist style by architect Franz Wipplinger for Mr. Neumann in 1802. The building strikes the eye by its rich stone-decorated façade. The front of the building features huge Corinthian pilasters and a monumental saddleback roof with gabled windows. It was built on the foundation walls of the former monastery attached to nearby Paulaner Church. The foundation of this church and the monastery were laid in 1627 by the emperor Ferdinand II and his son. “No. 334” above the entrance of the house dates back to the time the 4th district was a village by the name of Wieden. It was the 334th house of the village. Today the building is a protected historical monument.
